United Methodist and Evangelical Lutheran Churches Joint Worship Service
Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester
Sunday, April 11
4PM
The United Methodist Church and Evangelical Lutheran Church of America have voted in the past two years to enter into “full communion.” Full communion is not a merger; it means that the two churches express a common confession of Christian faith and mutual recognition of Baptism and sharing Holy Communion; agree to mutual recognition of ordained ministers for service in either church; express a common commitment to evangelism, witness and service; engage in common decision-making on critical matters; and mutually lift criticisms that may exist between the churches. As a celebration of this new relationship, Bishop Margaret Payne (New England Synod, ELCA) and Bishop Peter Weaver (New England Conference, UMC) are hosting a historic joint worship service.
A complete listing of events and activities may be found on Wesley's calendar.

News
Sunday Morning Church Closing
In case of inclement weather, please call the church office at 508-799-4191 for an updated recorded message announcing a cancellation: the message will indicate immediately whether or not worship has been cancelled. The decision to hold worship is made Saturday night or early Sunday morning, and it is possible that the 8:30 service will be cancelled and the 10:30 service held. Please note that our church is NOT on the list of closings on television.
Opportunities for Transformation
The United Methodist Church offers a wide variety of programs and events to help you explore and deepen your faith.
The Feinstein Challenge
The generous Mr. Feinstein is once again sharing $1 million with agencies that help feed those hungry and in need. All money and each non-perishable food item donated to us from March 1 through April 30, 2010 will be counted in the Feinstein Challenge; at its end, Mr. Feinstein’s funds will be divided proportionately between all the agencies taking part in the challenge. Monetary donations may be made by check payable to Wesley United Methodist Church with “Feinstein Challenge” noted on the memo line. Food items may be brought to Carty Cupboard as usual.
Electronic Contributions
Save time and money by making your pledge payments to the church budget using electronic giving. This automatic transfer program allows you to make contributions without writing any checks. To learn more about this program, or to register, view the EFT Information and Authorization Form.
